intercession team.

We realize that no one

ministry has all the

revelation to strategize

over the powers and principalities of  

darkness, so it was necessary for

our coordinator, Sis. Shirley L. Sylva, 

to tear down the 

barriers between ministries in order

that we would come together 

as a united front to wage war against satan.  

We realize that God will  reveal His plan of 

attack to all of us! 

Since the passing of our 

beloved Bishop C. C. Owens, 

we have come together in 

fasting and prayer as never 

before, as requested by our beloved late Bishop.

Our intercessors and our church family at large,

are still praying for strength 

to overcome our great loss;

Realizing that the love of God will conquer all,

we have set out to pray for the nations, the lost,

the hurting and devastated, for healings of health,

finances and relationships and to destroy the 

devious intentions and strategies of satan.

(About Anthony Alexander & Terran Thomas:   Written by Shirley Sylva)

These young men, each of which were Christened 

as babies at Emanuel,  were reared in the admonition 

of holiness among the saints here at the 

Emanuel C. O. G. I. C.

They are being offered prayer by the Pastor, 

Eld. Michael Richardson, Minister Edward 

Gurley, and the entire Emanuel Church Family:  

They are praying for the successful outcome

of the surgeries of Terran Thomas 

and Anthony Alexander which would take place

on Tuesday morning, February 15, 2005;  

They are also praying for God to continue to 

lead, guide and nurture these young men in 

the beauty of holiness for the rest of their lives:

Intercessory prayer is going forth and war 

is being waged against the fierce tactics and 

destructive measures of Satan which are 

coming in like a flood!! We are praying that 

God will lift up a standard against 

Satan's evil forces & Principalities!!

A lack of love, purpose, and unfulfilled 

potential is epidemic in our world.  It is 

therefore quite refreshing to find a young 

man who realizes and visualizes his 

God given purpose.  God had a unique 

plan for Terran Thomas that no one else 

could accomplish;  Psalm 33:11

says, "The plans of the Lord stand firm 

forever, the purposes of His heart through 

all generations, " and Isaiah 14:24 says, 

"The Lord Almighty has sworn, 

"Surely, as I have planned, so it will be, 

and as I have purposed, so it will stand.'" 

Nothing can get in the way of God's purposes; 

His purposes always come to pass!  

The scriptures say we were chosen in Him

before the world began;  God planned in 

advance all that we were born to be and 

to accomplish (See Ephesians 1:4-5).  In the 

book of Ecclesiastes, we read about the 

revelation of God's purposes to the 

hearts of humankind:  "To everything there 

is a season, a time for every purpose under 

heaven"  Ecclesiastes 3:1...So then, God 

has not only given us a purpose, but, 

according to this Scripture, He has also 

determined the time for 

that purpose to be accomplished;  

God has assigned a season, 

"a time for every purpose."

With love, Terran Thomas captured his 

vision, and through faith, realized his destiny 

as it pertained to Anthony Alexander, who 

was in desperate need of a kidney.  Terran 

was wired to perform God's will!

The parents of both Terran and Anthony 

were members of The Emanuel C.O.G.I.C. 

when the children were born;  They played together; 

grew up together; they prayed, sang 

and played the trumpet and drum instruments 

together in the choir;  Anthony Alexander 

had a rare kidney disease which worsened 

as he got older; The disease caused weakness 

and loss of strength in Anthony's body, 

making it difficult for him  to get around 

and about and triggered the  malfunctioning 

of his kidneys and ultimately required him

to receive dialysis treatments on a regular basis.  

As It became increasingly more painful and 

difficult for Anthony to move about, 

Terran became more and more concerned 

about Anthony's health;  We all did.

And we were all aware that we could 

not even subscribe to the pain and suffering 

which had victimized Anthony during the last 

few years.  It was predicted that Anthony's  

name would have been on the waiting list for 

a new kidney for at least another five years, 

which  would have possibly been too late!  

Without a request from Anthony, 

Terran Thomas, on his own volition, 

decided to give Anthony one of his kidneys.  

As it turned out, as God would have it, 

none of Anthony's family members were a 

good match for his kidney operation;  

However, Terran Thomas was a perfect, 

one time match for this kidney operation, 

and when it seemed as if he had to miss 

too many appointments which

were necessary to satisfy the demand 

for numerous important tests, Terran 

found it necessary to quit his full-time 

job!  The purpose for quitting his job, 

was to remove any obstacles which would 

hinder him from completing all necessary 

requirements;  Terran settled for a part time 

job;  Considering all of the sacrifices he made, 

Terran was truly wired and destined

to serve as a ministering angel in completing 

the task at hand!  The many sacrifices which 

have been made attest to the fact

that vision will persist against the odds, 

and that it is unselfish and much more 

than mere interest; A fact which Terran's 

parents initially couldn't thoroughly understand. 

God had predestined this incredible miracle 

to come into fruition long before the foundation 

of the earth.  God's glory is yet being revealed.  

"I am God, and there is no other;  I am God, 

and there is none like me.  I make known 

the end from the beginning, from ancient times, 

what is still to come.  I say:  My purpose 

will stand, and I will do all that I please."  

Isaiah 46:9-10....So we see that God

institutes a purpose and then He creates 

someone or something to fulfill that purpose;  

The fact that God is Alpha and Omega 

(the beginning and the end), when He 

starts something, He has already completed 

it in eternity;  "Yet they cannot fathom 

what God has done from beginning to end"  

Ecclesiastes 3:11 Terran's vision

was not his own private view of his future, 

but the view of his future inspired by God;  

Vision is not about us, its about God.

Many are the plans in a man's heart, 

but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails. 

Proverbs 19:21....So you see, this entire

portrayal of love, vision and faith is 

totally a reflection of the scriptures;  God 

can be seen on the big monitor, and 

what's more, God's plan is irreversible.  

Once again, Terran Thomas was 

placed here for God's purpose of fulfilling this need!  

God placed it on the hearts of the 

Emanuel Church Family and even the 

saints across the country to send up 

prayers for the success of the operation 

which would take place on Tuesday, 

February 15, 2005 (the day after Valentines day).

with Dr. E. E. Dickerson of the New 

Chicago C. O. G. I. C. of  Memphis, TN 

and Evang. Madie Porter and the prayer 

team of the Greater Community 

Temple C. O. G. I. C. of Memphis, TN 

and prayer warriors from The Greater

Holy Temple C. O. G. I. C. in Chicago.

War was waged against satan's plans, 

and thus, God's plan, which was embedded

into the fiber of Terran's Vision, went forth.

Dr. Myles Monroe once said that vision is 

the source of hope and life, and that the 

greatest gift ever given mankind was not 

the gift of sight, but the gift of vision.  Sight 

is a function of the eyes;  vision is a function 

of the heart!  Eyes that look are common, 

but eyes that see are rare.  Nothing 

noble or noteworthy on earth was ever done 

without vision, including Christ coming to 

earth as a perfect lamb and dieing for the sins 

of the world.  No invention, development, 

or great feat was ever accomplished without 

the inspiring power of this mysterious

source called vision.  Vision makes suffering 

and disappointment bearable;  Vision generates 

hope in the midst of despair and provides 

endurance in tribulation.  Vision is the foundation 

of courage and the fuel of persistence.  

Without vision, life would be a study of cyclic 

frustrations within a whirlwind of despair.  

Terran Thomas saw his purpose through faith 

and knew that he had the potential to fulfill, 

with the help of God, the act of rendering one 

of his kidneys to Anthony Alexander.

Terran's father, Terran Thomas, applauds 

his son's act of love, vision and faith as 

he tearfully grabs and hugs Terran and

Anthony during the mass prayer vigil.

As of Friday, February 18, 2005, Terran Thomas 

was just fine and had checked out of the hospital;

Anthony Alexander is in stable condition, 

has a slight complication with his blood 

pressure rising, and is about to be initiated 

with anti-rejection treatments;  We are looking

for the miracle to continue and for 

God to paint a good ending to this 

purposeful event in the lives of Anthony

Alexander and Terran Thomas.    

Klista Hill, our praise and worship 

team leader and the beloved God Mother 

of Anthony Alexander, had collaborated

with the NBC Channel 5 TV News Team, 

(in particular, Pam Oliver, The News Planning 

Editor);  Through Klista's efforts in assuming 

this initiative, she made it possible to have 

a similar story concerning Terran and Anthony 

to be aired on the NBC Channel 5 TV News 

on Monday, February 14, 2005 -- 

appropriately on Valentine's Day.

Hopefully, in the future, it may be possible 

for us to air a live clipping of this auspicious 

love story and news article as an add on to 

this article. This is not the ending of a 

beautiful story, but it is just the beginning

Currently, Anthony and Terran are both out and about, 

and walking around in good health!  The transplant was 

successful - God has been glorified!

realizes that all prayer is not 

intercession;  

that prayer is a petition  for  our needs, 

whereas intercession is seeking for the 

divine intervention of God in 

destroying satan's strategies.  "Thy 

Kingdom Come, Thy Will 

Be Done On Earth, As It Is In Heaven!" is 

the cry of our intercessors.

According to Evangelist Anastasia Richardson, 

 we are commissioned by God Almighty 

to pattern ourselves after Jer. 1:10:  "See, I 

have this day set you over the nations and over 

the kingdoms, to root out and to 

pull down, to destroy and to 

throw  down, to build and to plant."  Because an

intercessor is one with whom God shares His

secrets to cover in prayer, we know that the 

cleaner our hearts are, the more we can welcome 

or invite Him to enter in;  as the aspiring missionary 

Sis Klista Hill would say,

we must pray as David 

prayed when he asked God to:  "create in 

me a clean heart, and renew in me a right spirit  

Psalm51:10....," for it is possible to pray 

amiss by not knowing our own hearts!  

Our constant prayer is :  "Lord create 

within me cleanness and wholeness

of heart that I may be Your servant to 

stand in the gap."  When we pray, God does the impossible

in situations in ways we could never imagine;  we

can depend on Him to straighten out desperate 

situations!  As evangelist Countess M. Owens-Hicks

would say it, "Our enormous 

responsibility is to actually allow 

God to use us to enforce His will

in the earth realm."  As a direct

result of the Fall of Adam and

Eve, they, along with subsequent 

generations of humankind would be under a 

curse and would be in desperate need of an 

intercessor!  The Father, having foreseen the demise

of the human race, had prepared an antidote for sin -

Jesus, the Lamb of God slain from the foundation

of the world (Revelation 13:8)...According to 

Isaiah 59:16 - 17, He saw that there was no man,

and wondered that there was no intercessor; 

therefore His own arm brought salvation for Him; 

and His own righteousness, it sustained Him.  For 

He put righteousness as a breastplate, and a helmet

of salvation on His head;  He put on the garments 

of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal

as a cloak.  Jesus was to bring us salvation and 

deliver us from our sad plight, but after His 

resurrection, God decided to bring forth the Church 

of  the Lord Jesus Christ as a praying army;

According to I Cor. 2:8 this mystery is a weapon that

"none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they

known, they would not have crucified the Lord of 

glory."  The Church, the saints - God's army, is alive

in the earth today bruising the evil one.  Since we 

are adopted into the royal family, it has given us  

sonship and the authority, through the name of Jesus 

Christ, to establish dominion once again and to serve 

as God's enforcers through prayer and supplication.

Luke 10:19 says "Behold, I give you the authority

 to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over

all the power of the enemy, and nothing by any 

means shall hurt you.  Furthermore, these signs

will follow those who believe:  In My name they

will cast out demons; they will speak with new 

tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they 

drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt

them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they 

will recover."  Mark 16:15 - 18...As Jesus was

ascending to heaven, He gave us the keys to the

prison doors of this earth; the keys to set the 

captives free.  We are the enforcers of His will 

in the earth today as we use His name and pray

His will through His Word.
