At the tender age
of eleven, while perusing through the book of Revelation, our late Pastor's heart was
pricked to the point of conviction, and he gave his life to the Lord. Since that early period in his life, Bishop Christopher C. Owens had always
purposed to submit his time and talents as instruments of righteousness to be
made more skillful in God's Holy Vineyard.
In 1956 the late Bishop C. C. Owens founded and
organized the Emanuel Church Of God In Christ in Chicago, Illinois.

From The Youngest To The Eldest

Bishop Was A No-Nonsense
Preacher, Full Of Integrity;
He Balanced His Life By Loving
God's People!

From 1961 to 1998 Bishop Owens served as
Superintendent of the Lakeshore District of the Southern Illinois
Jurisdiction; He was an Administrative Assistant and Chairman of
the State Executive Board of the Southern Illinois Jurisdiction; He was also the Chairman
of the Executive Board of Ashley Quality Care, Inc., Chicago , Illinois.
Bishop Owens founded and organized the
Religious Workers Guild, Inc. in 1957, and was
the creator of the "Bishop
Charles Harrison Mason Award", which was instituted during the lifetime of
Bishop Mason, and is still the Church's highest award. He was appointed
National President of the Guild on December 11, 1959, by the late Bishop C. H.
Mason, during their General Assembly of the Church Of God In Christ, in Memphis,
Tennessee.
The Late Bishop C. C. Owens was one of the few
pastors who had received
the majority of his early religious and
biblical training under the direct leadership
of The Founding Father of The Church Of God In
Christ, International:
Bishop Charles Harrison Mason; It was a
great privilege to have been in
the presence of such a Holy Ambassador of God
Almighty.

It seems as if everyone, including Bishop
Owens, was pondering
over the awesome teaching being presented in a
casual manner
by the Late Bishop Harrison Mason (sitting on

Bishop
Christopher C. Owens was elevated to Auxiliary Bishop in 1998, (as seen in
the photo
above with Bishop Chandler David Owens, the former Presiding Bishop of The
Church Of God In Christ, Inc.). Our pastor was elevated as a result
of his dedicated service to the church and to God's people; He had been elevated to a higher
level to usher God's inspired visions into existence. The life long
dedication and work of the late Bishop Owens had made him known locally, nationally, and
worldwide.
The Late Bishop C. C. Owens was elevated to
the Sacred Office Of Auxiliary Bishop Of The Church Of God In Christ at the St. Paul C. O.
G. I. C. in Chicago, IL on September 2, 1998, when the Presiding Bishop and Chief Apostle of
the Church Of God In Christ was Bishop Chandler David Owens.

The late Bishop C. C. Owens is pictured below with the late Bishop Gilbert E.
Patterson, who was the newly elected Presiding Bishop Of the Church Of God In Christ Inc., during
a Press Conference after his election to the General Board of Bishops (Bishop
Gilbert Patterson was also a recipient of an award given by the Religious
Workers Guild, Inc.).

Bishop J. O. Patterson, Jr. officiated
in the
60th year renewal of marriage vows
for Bishop & Mrs. C. C. Owens.

Bishop Christopher C. Owens was a distinguished
gentleman, a dedicated and unwavering servant for Christ, a loving husband and
father, a determined businessman, and an irreproachable man of the cloth.
Bishop Owens always demonstrated that he was holding fast the profession of his
faith without wavering and
that he
was purpose driven in his life long quest to
sculpture (with the help of God), the repentant hearts of the lost. Bishop
Owens had a yearning to build a church for God and is seen at the construction
sight of the new West Angeles C. O. G. I. C. with the pastor, Bishop Charles
Blake, who was the newly elected 1st assistant to the Presiding Bishop of the
Church Of God In Christ, Inc. Because his vision had not dimmed, he continued to demonstrate a visionary
leadership and dedication in helping others to please God (Bishop Blake is now
the Presiding
Bishop of the Church of God in Christ since
the death of Bishop Gilbert Patterson).
The Late Bishop Owens had committed himself to sharing
God's word and spirituality to all mankind - especially to the members of The
Emanuel Church Of God In Christ. We commended Bishop Owens for his
faithfulness and diligence over the past 47 years where he had served as
pastor of the Emanuel C. O.
G. I. C. As an ambassador for Christ with an extensive

the Late Bishop
Owens had led The Emanuel C. O. G. I. C. into a posture of touching and
agreeing rendering the power of God to be loosed; We will forever stay on the wall to
serve as a constant beacon to a dying world, and we will serve as a haven to those
in need and a lifeline to those who are sinking.

We salute you for 63 years of marriage to one
wife, and for having loved and cherished your journey from the inception to the
end; Your wife and family will always love you and will always cherish
these joyful memories!
