Bishop Charles Ford:  To the web master of The Bishop Christopher C. Owens Memorial Foundation

Shirley L. Sylva:  Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.

For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb.

Trust in the Lord and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed.

Delight thyself also in the Lord;  and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart.  Psalms 37:1 - 4.

construction site of the

West Angeles C. O. G. I. C. in Las Angeles,

The Late Bishop C. C. Owens  had been

inspired by God, and influenced

and encouraged by Bishop C. E. Blake to bring his

dreams, (with God as his supporter), into fruition;  Bishop C. C. Owens had

received confirmation that God was in control, and that we access by faith into

this grace wherein we stand!  We are over-comers!  "For with God nothing

shall be impossible" The dream of Bishop Owens may

yet come into fruition!

St. Luke 1:37...God desires that we have faith,

confidence, and trust in Him; As we pray and trust God for our various

blessings, we must remember that:  "All God wants from us is for us to want

from Him, and to honor and serve him daily".  Allow God to quicken your faith

and urge you to expect miracles and blessings to abound. "Humble yourselves

therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time".

I Corinthians 15:58....Therefore, my beloved brethren,

be ye steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the

work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your

labour is not in vain in the Lord.

The Entire I Corinthians 15th Chapter:

On January 19, 1952, the Lord called Eld. George E.

Thomas, Sr. from labor to reward.  As he was lying

on his bed passing from this life, his last breath and words were spoken

in Tongues and English and were interpreted by the late Mother Elsie Shaw

("from the "15th Chapter of I Corinthians").  Elder Thomas told his family

to stay together and to remember the Gospel of Jesus Christ preached unto

them.  As a result of that word, in 1999 (some 47 years later),

his son, the Elder Herman Thomas (and Portia, the wife of Eld. Herman

Thomas), and the daughter of Elder George Thomas, Sr. (Church Mother

        Faith In Christ Provides Confidence

And this is the confidence that we have in him,

That if we ask any thing according to his will,

                                       He heareth us:

                                            I John 5:14

Supt. East (Center Forefront - shaking hands with Bishop Chandler D. Owens)

Today we live in a world where there is not much security or

confidence to be had.  We have many challenges to face day to day.

The graciousness of God, along with the knowledge of who He is,

provides us with great confidence.

Confidence in knowing we have a Heavenly Father who cares about us

       and our well being.

Assurance that if we request of Him anything, in agreement with His

plan for us, that He listens, hears and answers us.

Confidence in knowing our petitions to the living God are already

      answered, as He knows His thoughts and plans that He has for us;

thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil - To give

      us hope (Jeremiah 29:11).

In our daily prayer, we should have confidence and assurance, along

with faith and hope, because God is true to His word;  For we have a

       Heavenly  Father who cares.

We would like to send up a special

message and prayer unto

God for the benefit of not only the

 youth of the Emanuel C. O. G. I. C.,

but for all of the youth all over the nation:

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee:  Because he trusteth in thee.  Trust ye in the Lord

forever:  for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength.  Isaiah 26:3,4...

"Right now, Lord help us to focus on you as you order our steps

and our decisions;  Lord, we realize that you are in control of our

lives;  We ask that you will strengthen our confidence and trust in thee.

We believe in you Lord Jesus;  We believe that you are the Son of God.

We believe that you died on the cross for us, and that you paid the

price for us all;  We believe that you are present with us and standing

in our midst;  You have the power to direct and heal us and the grace

to forgive us;  Father, we ask that our desires and sentiments for

your strength and guidance become thresholds and imperatives for

young people everywhere;  We give you the honor and the praise

that you will extend to us strength as we place our lives into your

hands, and increase our faith as we remain faithful servants in your

vineyard!......Amen!!

I Thessalonians  5:18....In everything give thanks:  for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

A few years ago on our way to our State Convocation, my parents and I were in a terrible car accident which simply totaled the car.     As we were waiting for the Paramedics to arrive, I looked around and uttered, "well, thank the Lord."  The thanks wasn't for what did happen, but for what did not happen.

We don't know why certain things befall us.  We cannot always      understand God's will; but we also should not question God's will. When unfortunate things happen, don't ask, "Lord, why me", but rather, "why not me".  We are being groomed for a brighter day, a day when we can better appreciate the grace of God and His goodness.

No matter what we are going through, whether it be sickness, lack of finances, loneliness or whatever state of depression we may be experiencing, we should always praise and thank God regardless of our varied circumstances.  We seldom consider the fact that it could be worse.

Look to the Lord and give Him thanks, for He is faithful and His mercies endure forever.  When He brings you out, it is sometimes difficult to remember what you have been going through.  I praise and thank God for my good times and my bad times, for they have made me a stronger and better person for it.  Remember, God is good all the time and all the time, God is good!

Praise Report:

It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his

compassions fail not.  They are new every morning:  great is thy

faithfulness.  The Lord is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will

I hope in him.  Lamentations 3:22, 23, 24.......

Sis. Kathleen Smith, who is a member of the

Greater Holy Temple

C. O. G. I. C., Chicago, Illinois, has a miracle

praise report.  She has

been blessed beyond measure.  In her own

words, "I had been carrying a tumor in the

abdominal area of my body for about 40 years hoping and praying that

the Lord would miraculously dissolve it from my body.  But for the glory

of God, He decided to heal me in His own way and in His own time.  On

April 10, 2001, I began to feel so much pain.  I went into the hospital the

next day, which was Wednesday.  On Thursday, after discovering an abscess,

the doctors scheduled the surgery to remove it, for gangrene was about to set

in.  The operation, which was expected to last much longer, only took 2 1/2

hours as they removed a 25 lb. benign tumor, which was suspended in 44 lbs

of fluid (according to the surgeon).  Miraculously, thank God, the tumor was

totally detached from any other parts of my intestines and surrounding

organs (perhaps, because the tumor was suspended in this blessed 44 lbs. of

fluid).  The tumor, to the doctors' amazement, practically fell out on its own;

This was a miracle!!  I thank God for the 44 lbs. of fluid!!  Gangrene did not

circulate throughout my system due to the perfect timing of surgery and the

tumor was not cancerous;  I thank God for my deliverance".  To

paraphrase Job, you can't hurry God, you just have to wait;  You've got to

trust Him and give Him time, no matter

how long it takes; He's a God, you just

can't hurry;  He'll be there don't worry;

He may not come when you want Him,

but He's right on time. Take  a look at

what God can do!! The tumor resembles a 50 lb. or even a 75 lb. ham.

This beautiful praise report was written and edited by Evang. Countess

M. Owens-Hicks 6 months prior to the release of the story now written by

"The Whole Truth" Magazine of The Church of God in Christ, and the Ebony

Jet Magazine. Charisma Magazine is now seeking  the story as well as the

pictures which were taken by Emanuel's web designer and

photographer:  Sis. Shirley L. Sylva. Many people are amazed at how God

makes it possible for  His glory to be revealed and miraculously adds notoriety

and world fame, significance, and sensationalism to healings and situations

which may seem insignificant and of little interest to those who may belittle

God's greatness.

gggggggggggggggggggggggggggg

The word for today is "Love"

Love - the one thing we can never have enough of.  The Bible says that "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosever believeth in Him should not perish, but shall have everlasting life....John 3:16"  This means that God has a love that your sin cannot stop.  Your hatred won't stop it, your alcoholism can't rock it, your lies can't kill it, and your flesh can't will it. There is nothing in this world that can possibly equal the love God has for you.

It follows that we must love everyone, including those who don't love us, those that hurt us, lie on us, or those that would take our very life.  God loved Jesus, but He loves us too;  We also know that Jesus loved us, for He had to become a willing sacrifice;  Had He not been willing, we would have been lost.  That's Love!!  How much did the price for our redemption cost us?  It cost us nothing!  Jesus paid for our redemption with His life...Now that's Love!

Praise Report!!

Psalm 145:3...Great is the Lord and greatly to be Praised.

Healed of Acute Leukemia

In 1984, I was leading a Reasonable life.  My latest daughter was 1 1/2

years old, and, of course, my husband and I were very happy.

I noticed a knot on my leg;  I checked it out and my doctor (Dr. Rosen)

suspected something different - he said, "I'll give you some medication

and if it doesn't go away, I'll do something else."  In the meantime, I

visited the Northwestern Hospital Emergency room where I had blood

tests;  I left the hospital, but before I could reach my husbands shop, there

had been a call from the hospital requesting me to return immediately.

They suspected that I had leukemia.

I was greeted with hysteria by my husband when I stepped into the shop.

After getting a babysitter, I returned to the hospital the next day.  Of course,

I did not really understand what was happening, but the nurse explained that

I would be there for a long time.  I was given a bone marrow biopsy and, sure

enough, I was diagnosed with acute leukemia.  After being told that I would

die in about 2 months without treatment, I entered the hospital and had radical

treatment.  Many prayers were offered by my pastor, Bishop C. C. Owens

and our First Lady, Evangelist Elvie J. Owens.  The saints offered much

prayer.  My chance of survival was about 25%, unless I could get a bone

marrow transplant, but I held onto my faith of overcoming this dreaded

cancer.  At that time transplants were only done in Minneapolis, MN, and

someone had to be the exact blood type - there were none!  With faith

and strength, the disease was in remission, and I was able to leave the

hospital in about 3 weeks.  About a year later, June 1985, my doctor said

that the disease was back, and I had to re-enter the hospital for more treatment.

On July 3, 1985, I re-entered the hospital and this proved to have been

too much for my ailing husband, who suffered with high blood, congestive

heart failure, and a burned foot which made it necessary for him to use

a crutch to get around.  He visited me on July 4, 1985 and told me that he had

planned to take the older children downtown to see the fireworks.  We

talked after  he left the hospital that night;  It was the last time that I heard his

voice, for he passed away in his sleep that night.

After leaving the hospital I was sitting in a church service;  A missionary

Perkins of Buffalo, NY described my condition and asked if anyone there

had a blood problem.  I immediately stood up.  The scripture she gave was

Mark 11: 23...For  verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this

mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea;  and shall not

doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall

come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.  Well, I had the faith

and this leukemia mountain was moved - I was healed of Acute Leukemia!

Today my daughter is 17 years old, and I have not been treated since 1985.

My Dr. Merrill Kies called it cured during the 5 year follow up.  I thank

God for my healing and for keeping me every day.  Praise God!!

Praise Report - Matthew 6: 25 - 26...Are ye not much better than they?

"Our Home Was Saved!"

A few years ago, the County Board, City of Chicago & Developers opted

to acquire a certain number of homes in an area located west of Chicago's

loop.  They had planned to build a courthouse, and my house was in this

area.  I had no desire  to give up my home of more than 30 years.  We

held meetings, protest marches, made telephone calls, wrote

to newspapers, sent letters to officials, contacted radio and television stations,

and offered much prayer.  None of these measures worked.  People would

say, "you can't fight city hall."  Prayer vigils and individual prayer was

continually offered;  After over three years of stress and uncertainty, there

was an announcement that the plans to build the court house had been

cancelled. We rejoiced upon hearing the good news!!  Our homes had

been spared.  No, we cannot fight city hall, or change the minds of the

city officials and investors, but we know someone who can.  God is

our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1...

Daniel Chapter 3  "Stand"

I read the book of Daniel, the chapter known as three

I wondered what was its purpose, and then it was revealed to me

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego,

the three Hebrew men of long ago

No temple, no friends, nor freedom in sight

But they worshipped God, with all their might

Surrounded by enemies, only hearing what was told

Their faith ran deep, their witness was bold

Under threat of death, the decision in their hand

Will you bow to my statue, or on God's word will you stand

We serve but one God, O King and not you

We won't bow to another, no matter what you do

The challenge was issued, the decision was made

The men were marched off, to their fiery grave

It'll cost them their lives, to the death said the King

But what opened his eyes, was the change of the scene

Down in the furnace, as clear as could be

There were four men walking, four men, not three

At last, at last, the King new for himself

That it doesn't matter much about material wealth

He'd heated the furnace, as hot as it could be

And the Lord had interceded, and the fourth man was He

I am defeated, now I can see

That the God of these men, is also the God of me

I believe now, and I understand

That my safest place is in God's Hands!

The Hebrew Boys made a stand and God honored their faith.

Let us glean a thought from this reading and decide to  leap

from faith to faith and make a commitment and a strong stand

for God.
