that we apprise you, our viewing audience,

that this page represents

the life and legacy of our deceased visionary, and is therefore

                                                 Bishop Christopher C. Owens departed

                                                   this life on Thursday morning,

                                                        November 6, 2003.  Bishop Owens

had visitation at the Emanuel Church of

God in Christ on November 14, 2003 from

                                                       11:00 A. M. until 5:00 P. M.  The location

of the Church:  3058 W. Van Buren

Street, Chicago, IL  60612;  "See Below"

The Late Bishop Christopher C. Owens

Received His Honorary Doctorate Degree In Theology

From The Trinity Hall College Of Divinity

And Ultimately Exercised His Humanitarian Passion

To Impact The Kingdom Of God By, Not Only Presenting Awards

From The Religious Workers Guild, Inc. From

Both Civic And Christian Platforms,

But He Also Was Commissioned By The Trinity Hall

College Of Divinity To Confer Honorary Doctorate Degrees To

Many Of Our Brothers And Sisters In God's Vineyard.

Having His Steps Ordered By God,

And Equipped With An Incredible Portion Of Faith,

Bishop Owens Was Quite Gifted In Ministering, Mentoring

And Challenging Young People And Adults Alike

Who Were In Need Of Love,

Direction And Uplifting From Low Self Esteem

And Satan's Entrapments!

Bishop Owens Stressed The Fact That We Are God's

Children And Are Therefore Fearfully

And Wonderfully Made And That

It Was Imperative That We Trust And Give Honor

To God As Our Author And Finisher.

He Stressed That "All God Wants From Us Is For

Us To Want From Him!"

God Is Our Friend And Nurturer And His Grace Base Is

Much Broader Than We Can Imagine.

Bishop Owens Subscribed To The Fact That We Should

Not Judge The Saints, And Not Try To Spiritualize Them

But That We Should Be A Little More Creative In Providing

An Environment As Well As Godly

Incentives Which Would Allow The Individual To Become

Transformed Out The Box And Ultimately

Compel Them To Be Showcased,

And Processed Until God Allows Them To Walk In Deliverance.

He Left A Legacy Of How To Live An Abundant

And Pleasing Life.

Not only was Bishop Owens the Founder and Pastor of the Emanuel Church of God in Christ, but he was also the President and founder of the Religious Workers Guild, Inc. (Appointed to this National position by the late Bishop Charles Harrison Mason, who was the founder of this grand old Church of God in Christ);  He spent his lifetime honoring others.  Because of the fact that he was a bishop and had many titles (He wore many hats), there was a need for 2 funeral sessions at different locations.

The picture below only figuratively demonstrates the many duties

or hats he wore for various positions:  (SMILE!)

Bishop did have a sense of humor!!

The State Home-going service for Bishop

Owens was held at the Miracle Revival

Cathedral C. O. G. I. C. ,  located at 2010

St. Charles Road in Maywood, IL on

Friday, November 14, 2003;  The

Wake was from 6:00 P. M. until 7:00 P. M.

The Funeral was from 7:00 P. M. until

and was

officiated

by his nephew and

assistant pastor,

Eld. Michael Anthony

Richardson;  Many friends,

family and co-workers joined

us;  Of course, we had a

Hallelujah time!

(You are viewing money

placed at the feet of our beloved apostle, and now

deceased shepherd, pictured with his nephew,

who was, at the time,  the assistant pastor:   Eld. Michael

Richardson).

The repast immediately followed the funeral

at the same location.

The National Funeral for Bishop Owens

also  convened at the Miracle Revival

Cathedral C. O. G. I. C. on

November 15, 2003 (2010 St. Charles Road)

where Bishop Chamberliss was the  host pastor.

The wake was from 10:00 A. M. until

11:00 A. M.  The Funeral  began at

11:00 A. M.

Bishop Brooks, a General

Board member of the Church of God in

Christ from Detroit, MI, was

officiating.  The repast was held at the

 Holy Temple C. O. G. I. C.  located

at 246 N. California Ave., where Eld. Lamont

Lenox is pastor.

Many Family And Friends Were In Attendance.

More Family And Friends Attending The Funeral

Bishop C. C. Owens was a distinguished

gentleman, a dedicated and unwavering

servant for Christ, a loving husband and

father, a determined businessman, and an

irreproachable man of the cloth.  Bishop

Owens committed himself to sharing

God's word and spirituality to all mankind

- especially to the members of the

Emanuel Church of God in Christ.  Bishop C. C. Owens was one

of the few pastors who received the majority of his early and

biblical training under the direct

leadership of the Founding Father of the

Church of God in Christ, Inc.  It was an

honor and great privilege to have been in

the presence of this Holy Ambassador of

God Almighty.  We will treasure his final

sermon entitled "Blessed Are The Pure

In Heart, For They Shall See God"

Matt.5:8....We trust that you are

beholding God's face right now. Good

Bye sweet Bishop C. Owens;  we will see you in a

little while on God's Celestial Shore!

We've had our last earthly communion

together Bishop!

Bishop Owens was interred in a sealed

vault at

the Forest Home Cemetery in Forest Park, IL.

We will miss him dearly, but we are comforted

knowing that he is resting in the arms of Jesus.

We praise God for your heavenly promotion!

Born into time February 21, 1921;  Born into

eternity November 6, 2003.

A Moment of Reflection And Thankfulness

I thank the Lord for blessing us to share 63

wonderful years together.  Spending most of

my life with you has been a blessing from God.

Our journey together in marriage and ministry

has  touched the lives of many.  I could not

have asked for a better blessing!

From Your Loving Wife,, Elvie!
